New software significantly simplifies handling of home insurance claims
Estonia’s biggest property insurers have adopted the Swedish company CAB Group’s MEPS software, which is used to make calculations for the restoration and repair of real estate for home insurance and other clients. A total of 21 construction and repair companies have already adopted MEPS, which has been used to resolve almost 200 claims in the last two months alone.
Taavi Kiibus, the Head of Development for Digital Services at the Estonian Insurance Association (EIA), is convinced that in digitalising the work flow, MEPS will take the Estonian property insurance sector and customer convenience to a completely new level. “The days of repairmen looking a place over and coming up with a cost for repairs off the top of their head are coming to an end,” he remarked. “With MEPS you can calculate the total cost of repairs, from how much the materials will set you back to the fees the repairers will charge and the transport costs involved.”
Kiibus says the new software significantly simplifies the handling of home insurance claims. “Calculations made with MEPS provide clients with a better and clearer overview of what the repairs will cost them, making the claims-handling and repair process much more efficient,” he said. He added that the similar CABAS software has already proven its worth in the field of car repairs.
MEPS is currently used by five insurers: ERGO, If Kindlustus, PZU, Seesam and Swedbank. As such, it covers 90% of the Estonian home insurance market.
The CAB Group says it is delighted the EIA has adopted MEPS. “The Scandinavian insurance market has been using MEPS for years, and clients are very happy with the results,” noted Commercial Director Anders Melkersson. “The EIA have worked closely with us to develop the Estonian-language version of MEPS and meet the needs of Estonian clients. We’re looking forward to a strong, professional partnership with them in support of our joint clients on the Estonian market.”
MEPS is a web-based system via which insurers, repairers and real estate companies coordinate claims handling and repairs. It is used for the management of agreements, reviews, calculations and repair work and for prompt communication to boost the efficiency, profitability and control of business operations. It is the most widely used real estate maintenance and repair software in the Nordic region.
CAB Group AB is a Swedish software development firm which enables safe and efficient claims handling in the fields of car and real estate repairs and health care. Its real estate maintenance and repair management software MEPS is already in use in the insurance sector in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland and Norway.
The EIA is a professional association which unites all of the insurers operating in Estonia. It promotes insurance and damage prevention, analyses and publishes insurance statistics and organises the resolution of insurance disputes via a conciliation body.
